SOCKET ADAPTER FAQ's
What is a Socket Adapter?

A socket adapter is a device that allows a socket with a certain drive size to be used with a wrench or a power tool with a different drive size. For example, a socket adapter can be used to adapt a socket with a 1/4-inch square drive for use with a wrench with a 3/8-inch square drive. Socket adapters can have different shank types, such as hex shank or quick-change hex shank, that fit into different types of wrenches or power tools.

What are the different types of Socket Adapters?

Socket adapters can also have different features and functions, such as:

  • Flex socket adapters These have a pivoting head that can access fasteners from an angle. They are useful for working in tight or awkward spaces.
  • Torque-limiting socket adapters These have a mechanism that limits the amount of torque applied to the fastener and prevents over-tightening or stripping. They can be adjustable or factory-set to a specific torque value.
  • Torque-and-angle measuring socket adapters These have a sensor that measures the torque and angle of rotation applied to the fastener and displays it on a digital screen. They are used for precise tightening of critical fasteners.
How to use Socket Adapter?

  • Select the appropriate socket adapter for your project. Make sure it matches the drive size of your socket and the shank type of your wrench or power tool.
  • Insert the socket adapter into your wrench or power tool. If you are using a wrench, make sure it has a hex socket that fits the shank of the socket adapter. If you are using a power tool, make sure it has a check or an adapter that fits the shank of the socket adapter.
  • Attach the socket to the socket adapter. The socket should fit snugly and securely over the drive end of the socket adapter.
  • Place the socket over the nut or bolt. Make sure the socket is aligned and centered with the nut or bolt.
  • Turn on your power tool or rotate your wrench to drive or remove the nut or bolt. Apply steady pressure and avoid over-tightening or stripping the nut or bolt.
