Caulk Guns

Caulk guns are tools that make it easier for individuals to apply caulk, a kind of sealant, successfully. Caulk is a material that is used to seal and attach things, such as sealing a crack or opening between a sink and vanity or a window frame and jamb. Using a caulk and a caulk gun, virtually any space can be sealed. Although caulk can be used on its own, a caulk gun greatly facilitates the process. We'll demonstrate how to use a caulk gun in this article. There are several different kinds of caulking guns, including smooth rods, electric, ratcheting, pneumatic, and more. Each variety has distinct benefits, drawbacks, and pros. 

• Cut a 45-degree angle in the tip of a tube of caulk with a knife or use the hole next to the gun’s trigger.
• Press the release at the rear of the gun with your thumb, releasing the plunger at the back of the gun. Pull the plunger all the way back.
• Load the tube of caulk into the gun and push the plunger forward until it locks into place.
• Hold the gun at a 45-degree angle to the crack you’re filling. Squeeze the trigger and slowly move the gun to apply the caulk in a smooth line.
• Run your finger over the line of caulk to fill in the gaps and smooth it out. You can also use a wet sponge or a caulk tool for this step.
• Remove any excess caulk with a damp cloth or paper towel. Peel off any painter’s tape you use to protect the surrounding surface.

• Frame/Canister Tray - This is the long piece that protrudes from the handle to hold the tube of caulk.
• Rod - The rod on your gun is the long metal bar that runs the length of the canister tray.
• Plunger - This is the flange at the end of the rod that pushes the bottom of the tube up to dispense the caulk.
• Trigger - The trigger is the part of the handle which you squeeze to force the rod down the canister tray.
• Puncture Tool (optional) - This is a sharp metal piece that can be used to cut open the tip of the caulk tube or pierce the seal inside it.
• Hook - This is a metal loop that can be used to hang the caulk gun when not in use.
• Tip Cutter (optional) - This is a blade that can be used to cut off the tip of the caulk tube at a desired angle. Not all caulk guns have this feature.
