FAUCET PART FAQ's
What are Faucet Parts?

  • Cartridge: This is a cylindrical part that controls the water flow and temperature by moving up and down or side to side inside the faucet body. It has holes that align with the hot and cold water inlets and the faucet spout.
  • Stem: This is a metal part that connects the handle to the valve seat inside the faucet body. It has a washer or a rubber seal at the end that prevents water from leaking when the faucet is turned off.
  • Aerator: This is a small device that attaches to the end of the faucet spout and mixes air with water to create a smooth and splash-free stream. It also reduces water consumption and noise.
  • Sprayer: This is a flexible hose with a nozzle that can be pulled out from the faucet spout or mounted on the side of the sink. It allows you to direct water to different areas of the sink or rinse dishes more easily.
  • Hose: This is a flexible tube that connects the faucet to the water supply lines under the sink. It may have compression fittings or quick-connect fittings at both ends for easy installation and removal.
  • Gasket: This is a rubber or plastic ring that seals the gap between two parts of a faucet, such as the base and the sink, or the spout and the body. It prevents water from leaking or dripping.
  • O-ring: This is a small rubber ring that fits around a stem, cartridge, or other part of a faucet and creates a tight seal. It prevents water from leaking or dripping from the joints or connections.
What is the Lavatory Faucet Stem Replacement part?

A lavatory faucet stems replacement part is a component that replaces a worn-out or damaged stem in a lavatory faucet. A stem is a metal part that connects the handle to the valve seat inside the faucet body. It has a washer or a rubber seal at the end that prevents water from leaking when the faucet is turned off. A stem may need to be replaced if it is corroded, cracked, stripped, or broken. Lavatory faucet stems replacement parts may vary in size, shape, and function depending on the type and model of your faucet. You can find lavatory faucet stem replacement parts at hardware stores, home improvement stores, plumbing supply stores, or online retailers. You can also contact your faucet manufacturer for replacement parts or warranty service.

What is Shower Diverter Stem Replacement?

A shower diverter stem replacement is a component that replaces a worn-out or damaged diverter stem in a shower faucet. A diverter stem is a part that switches the water flow between a shower head and a tub spout. It usually has a knob or lever that you pull or push to divert the water. A diverter stem may need to be replaced if it is corroded, cracked, stripped, or broken.

How to Replace a Shower Diverter Stem?

  • Turn off the water supply to the shower faucet and plug the drain with a cloth to prevent small parts from falling.
  • Remove the diverter handle by prying off the index cover and unscrewing the retaining screw. Pull the handle off the diverter stem.
  • Unscrew and remove the escutcheon plate that covers the hole in the wall around the diverter stem.
  • Use a valve socket wrench to loosen and remove the old diverter stem from the valve body inside the wall. You may need to twist and pull it out with pliers.
  • Apply pipe-thread sealant or Teflon tape to the threads of the new diverter stem. Insert it into the valve body and tighten it with the valve socket wrench.
  • Reinstall the escutcheon plate and apply plumber’s putty around its edge to seal it to the wall. Remove any excess putty that squeezes out.
  • Reattach the diverter handle by screwing it onto the diverter stem and snapping on the index cover.
  • Turn on the water supply and test the shower faucet for leaks and proper operation. If you notice any problems, turn off the water and fix them before using the shower.
