SHRINK WRAP STRETCH FILM FAQ's
What is a Shrink Wrap Stretch Film?

Shrink wrap stretch film is a type of plastic film that can be stretched and wrapped around items to secure and protect them. Shrink wrap stretch film is often used for pallet wrapping, moving, packaging, and storage purposes. Shrink wrap stretch film can have different widths, lengths, thicknesses, colors, and strengths depending on the application. Shrink wrap stretch film can also have different types of clings, which is the ability of the film to stick to itself or other surfaces. Some shrink-wrap stretches films have one-sided cling, while others have two-sided cling or no cling at all.

Types of Shrink Wrap Stretch Film

  • Polyvinyl chloride (PVC): This is a low-cost and versatile type of shrink wrap that is often used for DVD and CD cases, software boxes, retail packaging, and other non-food items. However, PVC shrink wrap can become brittle after shrinking and is not suitable for high or low-temperature environments.
  • Polyolefin (POF): This is a high-quality and versatile type of shrink wrap that is FDA-approved and safe for food products. It is also made from recycled materials and has high clarity, puncture resistance, and temperature resistance. POF shrink wrap is commonly used for baked goods, frozen food items, paper goods, toys, candies, and bundling multiple items together.
  • Polyethylene (PE): This is a strong and durable type of shrink wrap that is typically used for industrial applications. It can reach a thickness of up to 1200 gauge and can withstand heavy loads and rough handling. PE shrink wrap is commonly used for wrapping beverage multipacks, boats, pallets, and other large or heavy items.
How to use Shrink Wrap Stretch Films?

  • Using an impulse sealer and a heat gun: This method involves cutting a piece of film from a flat roll or using a pre-made bag, placing the item inside, sealing the open edges with an impulse sealer, and applying heat with a heat gun to shrink the film around the item.
  • Using scissors and a hairdryer: This method involves wrapping the item with a piece of film, cutting off the excess with scissors, taping the edges together, and applying heat with a hair dryer to shrink the film around the item.
  • Using a shrink wrap machine: This method involves placing the item on a conveyor belt that automatically cuts, seals, and shrinks the film around the item using a heat tunnel.
